The Venu 3 Series: Check Prices On Amazon for Venu 3 and Venu 3S |
Overview
Garmin has
revealed a new larger, more elegant, robust, and powerful Venu 3 series to take
on the Apple Watch 9 series! It still in two sizes and has a lot of screen real
estate, while adding loads of features. Conspicuously, some of which are
first-time on Garmin wearables.
Garmin is
quite unequaled when it comes to the assortment, size, and range of its
wearables. Every little section on this Venu 3 has been meticulously covered including things such as nap
tracking/detection, the new Sleep Coach, and an evening Daily Summary report,
to mention a few.
Furthermore,
this exceptionally creative US-based business enterprise is likewise not a
stranger to battling the "mainstream" smartwatch battle, in addition
to setting trends in the smartwatch market. This results in becoming the
most successful smartwatch vendor…globally!
The Design
Officially,
Garmin is taking off the cloak of its two new devices, the Venu 3 and Venu 3S at the Berlin trade
show – the IFA 2023. But except for their obvious different case size, the Venu
3 and Venu 3S are virtually indistinguishable, as seen in their 2021 released
Venu 2 and Venu 2S. Likened to their predecessors, as far as their usable
screen size is concerned, the 45mm Venu 3, weighs only 30 without the band all
the while sporting a 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454
pixels. Equally for the 41mm Venu 3S, its 1.2-inch AMOLED display is possibly
plausibly enhanced from the 1.1-inch touchscreen of its precursors, the 40mm
Venu 2S.
Technically,
this watch added significant features in sports and fitness areas such as its
extended sport profiles, significant arrays of sensor support, the new
wheelchair support for push tracking, and handcycle sport tracking. Also,
Garmin brought in numerous favorite features in this watch like the Morning
Report, Recent menus, and a screen-based flashlight.
Even though
it does not appear that Garmin made of lot of deep-seated changes on the Venu
3, it does do with its overall quality and top-notch designs. In particular, it
continues and preserves its stainless-steel bezel charm, its
polymer-fiber-reinforced casing, the all-time best Gorilla Glass 3 lens, and
the robustness and stylish vibe of the Venu series.
What’s in store?
In all
certainty, what is inside this watch undoubtedly will be a concern more to a
lot of prospective buyers than what appears on the surface of Garmin's latest
smartwatches. The Garmin’s Venu 3 and 3S are both pointedly identical in terms
of everyday usage, an all-in button layout, and every single new look but the
watch’s screen size and battery life.
The unit
boasts of three buttons which are less than many other non-Venu series Garmin
watches, which typically have five buttons, alongside the touchscreen-equipped
AMOLED display. Nevertheless, it adequately affords easy control when using the
watch’s buttons fully during games. But, for those non-sports users, it needs
your fingers to choose items and/or widgets and some menus.
Even though,
Garmin is not yet ready (it may seem) to include discretional cellular
connectivity to top Galaxy Watch and best Apple Watch options, the Venu 3’s have at least produced a
built-in speaker and microphone. In so doing, it allowed users to make and
receive calls on the wrist with an Android or iPhone handset close by.
Furthermore,
and oddly enough, Garmin has not bothered to reference information about the recent ECG technology added to its Venu 2 Plus in so far as the Venu 3 series is concerned.
However, purposely excluding that part on the Venu 3 series, it nevertheless
tried to make that up with some interesting functions. Garmin, added, in
particularly the Venu 3 series, things like the tailored personalized sleep
coaching,
trying
to make up for that major "omission" with things like battery
improvements, nap detection, tailored personalized sleep coaching, and
conceivably the most remarkable, the Wheelchair mode. This sounds akin to
coming in handy until that time a forgotten portion of users.
Battery life and Pricing
Garmin wowed
us with battery endurance in Venu 3 hits battery life all the way up to 14
days, while the Venu 3S maintains the lights for up to 10 days between charges
in "smartwatch mode". But, sacrificing little things and features,
there may be, and even with GPS connectivity empowered at all times, squeezing
the last drop of battery life out of the Venu 3 series, users can expect two or
three days of regular use before charging. That should be enough for a
“throughout the day” health monitoring and an overnight sleep tracking a sinch.
Sadly, but
expectedly, the upgraded health sensors plus the built-in microphone and
speaker are also adding to the retail price tag, resulting in Garmin’s Venu 3
and Venu 3S, somewhat more expensive than the Venu 2 and Venu 2S, precisely at
$449.99 instead of $399.99. That is pricier than Apple’s Watch Series 8 and
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, at least in entry-level variants.
The Venu 2
and Venu 2S are already up for grabs in the US.
Conclusion
Garmin’s
Venu 3 series is reasonably up in features over the Venu 2 series, still, that
outlook differs depending on how sporty it is used. Certainly, there is a new
star in Sleep Coach and some new attributes. But the majority of these new
attributes are in fact more sport-focused, and a little bit less obvious at
first glance.
